West Side Story 1970 - Directed by John Fowler

Polly Browne, the original "poor little rich girl", and her school chums are dreaming about boys and the fancy dress ball that is to be held that evening, at Madame Dubonnet's finishing school that they are attending on the outskirts of Nice. However, Polly’s father, wealthy and widowed Percival Browne, has forbidden her to date for fear that all boys are after is hermoney, so Polly has invented an imaginary boyfriend that writes to her fromParis. As the hour of the ball draws nearer, Polly is in a panic as she will have to produce her Parisian boyfriend sooner or later or be proven a liar. 

Raffles is the haunting and romantic story of the visionary Sir Stamford Raffles who founded Singapore in 1819 without permission from the East India Company and was financially broken by the company for his pains. But his stoic resolve, and love of his wife, win through and he wins a moral victory to allow a bitter-sweet ending. It is of local interest as the couple actually spent their honeymoon in Henley. He is today regarded as a visionary and indeed many will know, and probably have stayed at, the iconic Raffles Hotel which bears his name to this day.
