Musical car crash
I just noticed the review below. I too saw The Boyfriend and have a somewhat different opinion (regarding the music)...[post edited here by the webmaster] There seemed to be
something of a communications problem between the orchestra and the
conductor, with the orchestra being somewhat flat. However, the cast
did a valiant job singing their harmonies, but sometimes failed to come
off together, as the MD's cues were a bit erratic. I enjoyed the show
as a whole, the directing was excellent for an amateur production and
the choreography tripped along beautifully, despite the bizarre tempo
in places.

The Boyfriend
Dear HAODS,
I am writing to find express my delight in the music of The Boyfriend. I noticed that you were under the baton of Marc Pizer again and it didn't surprise me that the standard of music for the Boyfriend was as good as West Side Story and Fiddler on the Roof.
The band were really tight (My wife and I thought it was pre recorded to start with) and the harmonies were as ever to what we expect from a Pizer production.
Is Marc working with you in the future?
I will keep a look out on your production team list and will book tickets again.
Well done HAODS on a fantastic show again!!!!!!!

Love the new site!
Just a note to tell you how much I enjoyed clicking through your new site. Seeing the pictures and reading the stories allowd me to re-live some of the wonderful memories of my all-too-brief time as a member of your company.
It's nice to be able to still feel 'connected' across the miles and years.

For the benefit of potential new members
It might be an idea to include (perhaps under 'About Us'), what your rehearsal days are.
Perhaps also mention whether auditions are open or whether you need
to first join. (I did notice that the Fiddler-specific comments
mention open auditions - but is that generally the case, or just
something special for Fiddler only?)
Regards,
Peter
Editor - We'll do exactly that, but instead of putting them on the 'about us' page we will put the rehearsal dates and times in the diar. The about us page is going through an overhaul soon.If you have any contributions then please send them in.

Titanic...and it really was
Went to see Titanic last night and it really was amazing. Everyone had their own character and played them very well. I am glad it is nothing like the film. The songs are great and were sang v well and the orchestra sounded beautiful. Thank You HAODS.

West Side Story
Very entertaining to see this classic show return to the Kenton Theatre after about 20 years. Liz Dickinson as 'Anita' was a triumph and made the evening for me. Another actress who I feel deserves a mention was the beautiful young girl who sung the solo 'One Hand One Heart'. Her talents were, in my opinion, under used and wouldn't she have made a wonderful Maria? Look forward to the next big musical with anticipation...
