Nansi
Diamond and her team for 'Happy Birthday Me' achieved a lot.
Firstly, at the Kenton Geoffrey Atkinson was awarded 'best actor'.
And Gareth Saunders as Superman got a special mention.
On to
Cornerstone Theatre at Didcot where Jan Beyts and Geoffrey were among
the nominations for best performer. Gareth's Superman appearance
was nominated for 'Best Theatrical Moment'.
At the
Unicorn, Abingdon, it was non-competetive but the Adjudicator chose
our play as one of just three to do a repeat performance on the last
night. And Superman's entrance was one of the nominations for the
Colin Dexter award for 'Best Theatrical Moment', the sole award given
at Abingdon.
Finally,
at the Corn Exchange, Wallingford, we were one of the three plays
nominated for all-round best performance.
And Geoffrey again got the
top personal award for 'Best Performer'. Superman, of course, could
not escape praise again... And an unexpected extra - the
Adjudicator, departing from normal practice, specially praised the
script of the play - adapted for us by our President, Simon
Williams from his full-length play 'Laying the Ghost'.
