Once again, big Al Elston hosted an all singin’ Christmas Carol concert in the Green Room, accompanied by Angela Pengilly on the piano. The assembled crowd of at least sixty members who had come from far and wide, enjoyed delicious mulled wine and mince pies prepared by Mary Dickinson and Rosalie Raymond. Besides singing carols to raise the roof, the assembled company enjoyed entertainment by Keith, Val and Ellie Jeffries who sang a naughty Christmas song, and Ian Senior, Richard Clegghorn-Brown and Helen Barter treated the crowd to a song from our exciting Autumn production, Raffles of Singapore.
Number 17 was once again lucky for ex-chairman, Terry Rymer who won £50
in the December draw of the 100 Club. The Christmas draw of £75 was won
by Nicki Stanton. If you are not in the 100 Club, you are missing out
on the chance to win £50 every month! Call Bryan Villars to make sure
that you are not missing out!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We are looking forward to our
Spring production of The Boyfriend ... we still need a few more young
men for this, by the way, so keep your eyes peeled – and of course our
special project for the Autumn slot, Raffles of Singapore. The
selection of the director for this production will be carried out on
7th January, so watch this space to see who is going to be in charge.
Coffee mornings at the Kenton begin again on 9th January, so don’t
forget, when you are in town, just pop in and have a coffee and a cake
for just £1. Why not arrange to meet your mates there? All profits go
to the upkeep of that wonderful old theatre of ours.
So, all good wishes to everyone... here is to a very happy and
prosperous new year to you all!
