Daisy Climbs High for Charity PDF Print
Written by Samantha Fields

ride_high_backstage.jpgHAODS member Daisy O'Halloran is undertaking a big project to help out a local charity. She is joining up with some friends to climb the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro!

Below are a few words from Daisy about her climb and the charity that she is hoping to raise lots of money for. "I have made a decision (perhaps a crazy one!) to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the Charity Ride High. The climb will take six days and be incredibly tough (I get tired walking up the hill to my house!!) but I am doing it with nine others and between us we hope to raise £20,000! I am really hoping some HAODS people will support me in this venture by donating to the charity, and I am also going to be organising a few fundraising events over the next couple of months - cabaret night, quiz night, performing down by the river, horse show - which I really hope people will come to. The money that I and the others raise is going to Ride High.

Ride High is a Milton Keynes registered charity which aims to change the prospects of some of Milton Keynes most disadvantaged children. They do this by teaching them to ride and care for horses, by helping them to develop their social and literacy skills and by facilitating volunteering and work experience placements. The children helped are all referred by childcare professionals and may be suicidal, self harming, in foster care, excluded from school, caring for a parent or living in an environment dominated by poverty, drugs or alcohol. Ride High help over 60 children a week, many on a long term basis, and see remarkable change in so many. Any sponsorship/donation would be amazing. It really is a fantastic charity and worth all the support you can give. Donations can be taken on this page:

or cash/a cheque to me." HAODS wish Daisy all the best in her challenge and we look forward to hearing about her success.
