old-tyme01.jpgMy Lords, Lardies and Jellybeans! What a wonderful evening of monumentally majestical magical momentous nostalgia was brought to you by the highly talented, ageless aristocracy of articulate HAODS artisans (artistes?) on Saturday 10th October in the Green Room. With just a touch of youthful endeavour and enthusiasm from the juvenile section... the evening was action packed... from Aspidistras to zzzz -all-night caffs, humour, horror, horticulture and songs, the HAODS Old Tyme Music Hall evening had it all and more!

From Noel Coward, Gracie fields, TS Elliot, and even Pinter.  A cast of thousands – (well it seemed that many on the small stage) brought us "Temptation Sordid or Virtues Rewarded" - a old-tyme03.jpgMelodrama of momentous, mendacious, mediocrity bringing tears to the eyes (mostly from uncontrollable laughter!) all washed down with a glass or two of fruit of the vine and a delicious fish and chip supper (Paulo's in Reading Road did us proud!). All presented in true Music Hall style by (ex) Chairman and MC for the night, Terry Rymer with accompaniment from our pianist the gorgeous, dexterous Angela-Where's me' left hand – and who put those black notes there?-Pengilley and percussing old-tyme04.jpgBob-Boom-boom-Beresford on the drums. A happy band of HAODS helpers from our ever willing Social Committee, suitably supervised by our Social Secretary Ann Jenkin, ably assisted director Wendy Huntley to help the evening rock and titter along at a melodramatic steam train pace. Our thanks go to all who helped make this evening such a success. It will, I am sure, be repeated and become as popular as old-tyme02.jpgour Christmas Carols evening. We even made a small profit (which keeps the Treasurer happy!)  It is a great opportunity for anyone who is not currently performing in any shows to do a turn and keep in touch with your friends! If you missed it you missed a good DO. If you were there, thanks for your enthusiastic encouragement (they also serve who sit and clap, sing-along, heckle or simply just sit and that means a terrific, tumultuous round of applause to of course, YOURSELVES!) Same time next year!  See you there!   (Merry)Terry R.
