Amadeus
12th - 19th November 2005
Amadeus is a gripping, intriguing study of the roots of envy and the
haphazard nature of genius. It tells the tale of Salieri, successful court
composer to Emperor Joseph II of Austria and his struggle with the genius of
Mozart. It is packed full of exquisite, visual images and those soaring snatches
of Mozart's music that combine to make this a great theatrical occasion. The
play is set in Vienna in November 1823 and, in recall the decade 1781-91
