Characters:
(All ages are approximate )
In
life we make decisions all the time. Decisions that can change our
life or make little difference at all. But it is when we come to
that dangerous moment - that dangerous corner- when the wrong word
or action can cause catastrophic consequences - do we slow down, or
head recklessly into the turn?
Robert
Caplan (40) The
main character of the play is Robert J.B. Priestly has a dual
attitude towards his main character. On the one hand he distinguishes
Robert, as an honest man among the liars. Robert was the only one who
insisted upon telling the truth: "Serious
or not. I'm all for it coming out. It's healthy."
But on the other hand, Robert was the only one who lived in "a
fool's paradise", in the illusions
where he tried to hide from the truth of life.
Freda
Caplan (40) wife of Robert. Very
stylish and practical, an observer of others. Supportive to Robert
and a good hostess. "We're a snug
little group? How awful, it sounds disgusting"
Gordon
Whitehouse (30), younger brother of
Freda. Excitable, nervous but showy
Betty
Whitehouse (30), Blonde and ostensibly
very shallow. Brittle but with ‘hidden depths. Hysterical at times.
" I like fibbing, it's the secret of my charm"
Charles
Stanton (40) cynical batchelor. Maybe
untrustworthy "Telling the truth is
about as healthy as skidding rounda corner at sixty"
Olwyn
Peel (30-40), cool, has an inner
beauty. Aloof at times but very sensitive. "the
real truth, every single little thing, would't it be dangerous?"
Miss
Mockridge (50) Novelist. Authotitative
and speculative. "People who don't
like gossiping aren't interested in their fellow creatures"
